As an Accelerated Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects of testing. Working with a team, you are expected to provide pricing to customers; receive, check-in and schedule tests; set up testers, expose and monitor tests; perform basic repairs on equipment; provide intermediate services and report results. Additionally, you will be expected to provide support to other departments, acting as a back-up in our warehouse and calibration lab, as demands require. The majority of customers are German speaking, but a significant amount of work is performed in English. Q-Lab has been a global provider of material durability testing products for more than 50 years. As an industry leader in the field of weathering technology, we develop, produce and distribute test substrates, weathering, light resistance and corrosion laboratory equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers to provide pricing or test updates in English or German
- Document all testing in English - from receipt, to check-in, to return of the test specimens to the customer
- Provide test reports to the customer in English and German, as needed
- Set up chambers for acceptance verification or for customer tests
- Calibrate in-house or customer equipment, as needed
- Prepare specimens for testing
- Regularly reposition test specimens
- Report specimen performance through a variety of evaluations
- Take professional-level digital photos
- Maintain and provide basic repair of test chambers, test equipment and instruments
- Support other departments (e.g. goods receiving, test chamber acceptance testing), as needed
Experience/Requirements:
- Education or work experience within a scientific, technical, or engineering field (chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, etc.)
- Strong customer service and sales experience
- Solid computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs with the ability to create, copy, and move files.
- Ability to read and understand complex instructions and possess a moderate level of mechanical, electrical, and software skills to understand, operate and maintain Q-Lab testing equipment
- Strong skills in English, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with Standards and Test procedures is a plus
