Mike Crewdson, Managing Director for Q-Lab Corporation’s worldwide testing services, has been elected Vice Chair of the ASTM G03 Committee on Weathering and Durability. His two-year term begins on 1 January 2018. Crewdson will continue to serve as Chair of ASTM Subcommittee D01.25 on Evaluation of Weathering Effects and Coatings Defects, and is a USA delegate to ISO TC35 SC6 on Paints and Coatings.
“I’m looking forward to helping make ASTM G03 standards as clear and unambiguous as possible,” said Crewdson.
The G03 Committee on Weathering and Durability is responsible for the promotion of knowledge, stimulation of research, and the development of standards related to the durability and performance of organic and inorganic nonmetallic materials, components and combined assemblies that are subjected to various environments. The Committee manages 34 global standards, and is comprised of 10 sub-committees.
Crewdson has worked in the weathering field for more than 35 years. He has authored many technical papers, delivered weathering seminars, performed training, and presented at symposiums on three continents. He has technical expertise in outdoor weathering, accelerated weathering, evaluations, instrumental measurements, physical testing, data collection and reporting, correlation, and writing procedures and standards. He has also developed the ISO 17025 quality systems for two different testing laboratories.
